Solar Eclipse 2012

What an amazing experience the Solar Eclipse was! Michael got a couple pair of glasses from his science teacher and I bought a few pair from the Planetarium. (Once they were back in stock.) Michael got some great shots of the actual Eclipse.

These first few were taken about an hour before the total eclipse. We went outside several times and then toward the end, just stayed out there.

Across the street at my mom's so the house wasn't in the way.

The neighbor kids joined us.
Almost a total eclipse

My absolute favorite picture! I LOVE it! Great job Michael!
Its going away...

Trying the paper trick too.

 Almost totally gone.
What an AMAZING piece of history!!!! Beautiful!

Emily's 4th Birthday!

The week after we got back from Monterey, it was time to celebrate Emily's 4th birthday. It is SO weird that she is 4 now! WHERE does the time go? It seems like yesterday she joined our family. I just love my nieces!

So went over to my mom's to celebrate.

Michael and Me

My mom reading Emily one of her cards.

I made her little cupcakes and cake pops. She was super excited!

Happy Birthday Em!!!!!

Off to the Wharf

Before heading home, we went to the wharf to have a late lunch.

So.... Donald ordered the raw oysters and offered some to the rest of us. At first there were no takers, just strange faces. Slowly the boys started warming up after Donald ate a couple and made them look yummy.

Jared and Xara tried

And it was a "No!" from Jared

Michael assessed the situation, tried one and kept it down.

Not to be done Jared tried again... And ummmmm, well, it was again a "No!"

Xara entertained us while we waited for the rest of our food.

After lunch, we continued down the Wharf, where we met THE most gutsy pelican I've ever seen! The salmon boat came in and no matter HOW hard they tried, this little guy wouldn't budge.

After a few times of being squirt with the hose he finally left and went to sulk... far away from the others. :-(

The others waiting for scraps down at the bottom.
Then we went to go watch the cute sea lions basking in the sun.

We waved good-bye as we finished our walk and traveled home. What a great time we had!
