The Wolf Run Kick-off

For the past several years, I have been in charge of the Wolf Run Kick-off at Cai Lynn and Jared's school. Each week, for 25 weeks,  the students run a mile. The Wolf Run is the last mile of a school wide marathon. It's the only fundraiser for the PE program and it is supposed to fund the next school year. So MY job is to get the kids all pumped up and ready to get those pledges for the run.

Well, I certainly couldn't do it by myself, so every year I recruit the UNR track team and the last couple of years I have brought along the UNR mascot Wolfie. (It works out GREAT because we are the SWE Wolves!)

I ran over during my lunch so I was still in my scrubs (an extended lunch hr) and met the team and Wolfie to give them the run-down of the assembly. Add 600 kids and their teachers and GO! (Actually about 500.... the 6th graders were on their 6th grade camping trip)

I made my announcements and introduced the Track team and of course in came Wolfie! (the kids went NUTS!)

Now it's THEIR turn! They led the kids through some stretches and exercises.

And so did he.

They split them up down the middle to do the "Wolf Run" cheer.

As they left the auditorium to go back to class, they got to high five Wolfie and the girls. (Two girls at each set of doors.)

I think I know her!

He was so cute!!!!!

Picture time!

What a great time!!!! Thanks for all the help everyone!!!!!!  (Now back to work!)

Work Party

Or Partay!
One of the wonderful doctors I work for invited the whole crew (surgery staff as well) over to his home for his second annual Hoopla! The kids had a BLAST (I think Cai Lynn had the most fun... they boys wouldn't dance.) I REALLY wish I had my camera and not my phone!

Once "Red Dawn" came on, Jared moved down to the floor to get a better listen. (In his defense, She was AWESOME!)

So much fun!!!!!

Happy 5th Birthday Emily!

Holy Moly! How is Emily already 5?!?!?!?! I'll ask it again, WHERE has the time gone!? My cute little niece Emily who is sassy and smart as always, turned 5 last week, so we celebrated it tonight at my Mom's.

It was my very first attempt at a Barbie cake. It wasn't exactly what I had pictured or wanted, but I was actually pretty happy with it for my first one. ALL Emily requested was a Barbie and a Baby. Her only two wishes, so of course I HAD to at least attempt the cake.

The birthday girl and her mom.

And....  Present time!!!!!

We got her another Barbie

Michael putting her "BAAAAAAAAAABY!!!!!!" 's batteries in. I didn't even get a picture of her screaming "My BAAAAAAAABY My BAAAAAABY!!!!!" because we were laughing so hard!

I was laughing so hard because I had my phone camera turned around so we could see ourselves. All Matt could say was, "WHAT!? Do I really look that old???? Why am I so OOOOLLLLLLDDDD???"

Wait for it.....

Wait for it.....

A little help from Cousin Michael....

"OOOOOO!!!!! A BABY Stroller!!!!"

Going over the card Cai Lynn made for Emily.

Once she realized the baby was animated, she wasn't too sure about it. (Then I told her that she could turn it off... and she QUICKLY did.)

And let them eat cake!!!!! Emily HAD to put the candles in.

Taking out the candles

Cutting the cake

Patiently waiting for me to unwrap the Barbie. (Michael took the pictures while she waited)

Happy to be holding the "all clean" Barbie.

And.... of course they had to fly the helicopter..... The challenge was to try and make it fly (with its little remaining juice) from the top of the stairs and gently land on the bottom.

Picture time! (I wish I had my camera and not my phone...)

Happy
Birthday Em!!!!
