Feeling old...

When I was entering high school, my mom gave me a new dictionary. She always wrote the dates and a little message in new books. (It was just something she did.) The boys use it from time to time for their homework, etc.

A few nights ago, Michael was looking at it and noticed the date and the message, and asks, "You got this dictionary in 1988?" I said, "Yes" then he says with much amazement, "WOW! There were a LOT of words back then!"

Nice!

My computer sadness...

After several years with my other computer and a few repairs; each time waiting its turn in line of several others computers at the computer doctor, I finally broke down and got another one. Thank goodness for tax returns and the price of electronics going down! I got a better computer for the same price as it would have cost me to get a new Motherboard. (which was the new problem...)

How nice it is to be typing and not have the computer automatically shut down, because it overheats. It's such a blessing to have the kids looking up something for their homework and retrieve it before it shut down. And how wonderful it is to have working speakers! (the same ones mind you as before, it was a bad video and sound card too.)

Unfortunately our lives have necessitated the use of computers in our homes whether it's for homework, work work, staying in touch with friends, etc. It's just amazing that in my lifetime I have seen computers go from giant ones to hand-held ones.

I am so thankful that electronics are now so affordable!

A Beautiful Moon

This is one of my favorite parts about winter. A full moon trying to peek out of the ominous clouds. After a busy day at work, spending over an hour at the computer store, and a quick trip to the grocery store we stepped out and as we stepped out into the parking lot, we were met by this awe-inspiring scene. I pulled out my ever-present camera and trying to avoid the humilithon, only snapped a couple of pictures.

Last night on our way home, Cai Lynn asked me very quietly from the back seat, " Mommy, remember last night? Remember the beautiful moon?" Apparently it impressed them too. :-) After they all went to bed, I received a text from a friend 100 miles away, with almost the exact same picture and stated, "Have you seen the moon the moon? It's pretty awesome. Wish I was camping right now!"

Another one of God's great gifts to add to our collection.

Roller Skating

At least once a month the kids' elementary school hosts a "Skate night". We have attended once prior to this, and you will see why in the following pictures. :-)

Jared being a tad dramatic...

She even let go a couple of times. LOL

Red Light, Green Light...

OK Maybe this proves that we need to go a bit more often. :)

Court of Honor

Michael attended his first Court of Honor. (Of his own) He is now an official "Tenderfoot" and is almost done with his "Second Class". He was so excited! (And so was I. ) It's hard to believe he is growing up so fast!

These are the boys who were awarded their "2009 Quality Unit" badge. (Minus the two in the front... they are not yet Boy Scouts. They were just posing for the picture. :) )
