Virginia City

We were supposed to go to a birthday party this weekend, unfortunately it was out of town and would end up costing money I don't have. :-( Soooooooo I was bummed and was thinking about some local places to go that we hadn't been to in awhile. (It had to be Super cheap too!) It has cooled down considerably this week, so I didn't want to head to the river or the lake. We have not been to Virginia City in several years so I decided to head up there.

It's of course a MAJOR tourist attraction. We tried to keep tabs on where some of the people were from. (Duncan as always was a major conversation starter.) We met people from Washington state, Maui, Atlanta, Oklahoma, and Southern CA. (Of course there were locals up there too, I ran into a few I even knew.)

We met this old miner and his sweet donkey.(There were A LOT of characters in costumes... gunslingers, saloon girls, )

They chose their favorite signs. (Michael ended up buying his.)

Duncan loved the smell of the pelts and coon skin caps. He even tried to steal them.

Gross

We LOVED this museum! It was so cool!

The "10 mile view"

Jared decided to spend his money on Zoltar

He was reading his fortune.... This is before he got to the end. I couldn't take a picture, I was laughing too hard. Zoltar said he talked too much and he said Zoltar was mean.

One of the little shops

Deep fried Almond Joy

Deep fried PayDay... Apparently they were both gross.

This is the only thing I spent money on and the kids thought it was TOTALLY worth it. Best $6 ever! The "Sheriff" was very helpful and kind.

Looking at their loot.

I love the area we live in! There is so much to do that cost very little and are SO close! I seem to forget  about this little piece of history, Virginia City. (And I still have a full tank of gas!)
