For the past several years I haven't been able to accompany Cai Lynn with her Girl Scout troop due to me working on Saturdays. Since I started my new job and I have Saturdays off, I was able to go and spend the night.
We got everything packed and ready to go. Michael had his own HUGE Boy Scout jamboree up by Fernley so he left the day before we did. So I raced home from work grabbed Cai Lynn to take her to her annual Dr's appt, after that, feverishly packed up the car with kids, stuff and dogs and headed out.
I had never been to the campsite before but I had an idea and a turn-off to go by, so of course I missed my turn-off (In my defense it was an itty bitty sign! LOL) and we ended up an hr out of our way. By the time we arrived at our campsite, the amazing leader had our tent completely SET UP!!!!! WHAT and angel!!!!! AND we had arrived in time to help get dinner set and ready! We made pizza and hot dogs.
After dinner the girls decided it was a wonderful idea to go swimming in the freezing cold water! EEK! Jared and Mikaela went fishing instead.
Afterwards, we told stories and had smores by the campfire. There were about 12 girls and 6 adults. (3 moms and 3 dads) We sure did make a ruckus!
Shortly after this picture was taken, as we were singing and having a great time (and the campfire popping) the two men behind me stated whacking the back of my head. Not realizing what was going on, Jackie (her GS leader) said, "I think you need to move" STILL not realizing what was going on, one of the men behind me, gave me a shove and said, "Get up! You're on fire!" I was kind of turned sideways and some embers had gotten in my hair and burned my sweatshirt as well as the chair I was sitting in. THANK GOODNESS they were sitting where they were sitting or in would have been BAD!!!! (As it was not too much hair fell out.... but some did.)
Jared entertained us with his singing and dancing.
The girls also sand a few songs
After a very late campfire we headed to bed. We were all VERY sleepy!!!
After almost no sleep (I even had an air mattress..... but, well, you know.... hard to sleep!) I woke up before the kids, along with the GS leader and her husband.
This is what I got to see at about 6 am
We had a wonderful breakfast of bacon, egg and cheese croissants.
I guess 10:00am is a perfectly acceptable time to go tubing!
We left right after a late lunch and met Michael at home. (He got home at about 1:00ish) First things first... I gave both dogs a bath while the kids unloaded the car. Then the humans got their baths.
We had a great time!!!!!
